The author Pi about herself:

I was born on 03.23.1931 in Wiesbaden as the third child of Mr and Mrs William and Louise Hinz. Due to their unemployment at that time they acquired a settlers place in Silesia a year later, where I attended elementary school.

In January 1945, we escaped and our torn apart family met again in my mother's birthplace (Taunus).

In Brandoberndorf I visited an elementary school for a month and then worked for 1 ½ years for a farmer. My father was released and I began an apprenticeship with him as a men’s tailor.

In 1952 I got married and had a son. In 1956 I passed the examination for the ladies tailor.. In the same year I separated from my husband and started my own business in order to provide better for my child.

I could expand my operation to ten employees and trained several apprentices.

In 1963 I married for a second time and we bought a house in Offenbach.

My husband suffered his first heart attack at age 56, two years later, a second and was forced in to retirement. He had been a Technical Assistant at Deutsche Lufthansa.

Due to the rising cost I slowly let staff go and when my granddaughter was born in 1982 in Greece, when my help was needed for several weeks, I gave up my self-employment.

I worked for another ten years and retired at 60.

In 1982 I started writing "wo wollt ihr hin? “ in order to capture my memories for the family.
