Katharina Kutil was born 1970 in Vienna (Wien). Right from the beginning it was obvious: She belonged to the theatre. After graduating as a textile pattern illustrator, she turned towards the stage and stayed there for 26 years, only interrupted by occasional trips into the event management industry. First as an actress, she later moved on towards directing.

For her 12th birthday her grandmother gave her a diary, this is how her passion of writing was born. She writes novels, short stories and, to link the theatre to her writing, she also writes plays, some of which she also accompanies as a director.
Catherine lives with her cat lady Pina in Vienna.
